Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ

Q. Why is Bosch repairing dishwashers?

BSH Home Appliances Ltd believes that some affected model dishwashers may potentially develop cracks in the printed circuit board within the control module. Depending upon individual operating circumstances, these cracks could potentially lead to melting soldering material or, in an unlikely event, ignition of a fire in the dishwasher.

Q. Which models are affected and when were they manufactured?

The affected dishwashers were manufactured between 2000 and early 2006 with the following model numbers: SGI4335AU; SGI4345AU; SGI4347AU; SGI43A25AU; SGI43A45AU; SGI43A55AU; SGI4705AU; SGI4715AU; SGI53A55AU; SGS4332AU; SGS4352AU; SGS43A92AU; SGS43B22AU; SGS43B42AU; SGS4702AU; SGS4712AU; SGS5332AU; SGS53A52AU; SRI43A05AU; SRS5302AU.

Dishwashers outside the above model number range are not affected.

Q. When does the problem occur?

BSH believes that the product issue only occurs while the dishwasher is in use and only during the relatively short phase of the dishwasher’s cycle when the water is being heated to the required temperature. The product issue cannot occur when the dishwasher is not in use.

Q. Why does this fault occur?

BSH believes the product issue (namely, cracks in the printed circuit board within the dishwasher’s control module) may arise when an inadequate soldering point on the dishwasher’s control module is subjected to thermal stress (or overheats).

The amount of thermal stress generated in the relevant soldering point depends on a number of factors, including the level of electric current/voltage that passes through that point.

Q. How can I find out if my dishwasher is affected?

By matching the model identification number on your dishwasher with the model numbers listed on the website. The model number is etched into the metal on the upper centre inside edge of the dishwasher’s door panel. Alternatively, contact the Bosch Customer Service Team on 1300 369 744. By asking you some basic questions, we will be able to determine if your dishwasher is part of the repair action. At that point, we will give you all the information you need to arrange your free, in-home repair of your dishwasher.

Please contact the Bosch Customer Service Team on 1300 369 744 to organise an authorised and trained repair agent to visit your home to replace the dishwasher’s control module.

Q. How long do I have to wait for a repair agent to come out?

Q. How long will the repair visit take?

Replacing the dishwasher’s control module is a simple repair and should be completed in approximately 45 minutes with minimal disruption.

Q. How long is the repair action valid?

The free, in home repair action on affected dishwashers will remain open indefinitely.
